As a parent, your child’s welfare is really important for us. We always want the best for them. And as the journey of your growing child goes on, we encounter one of the messiest things in their mileage, potty training.
Who among you have a hard time training your kids? Well as for me, I just surpassed this stage and I feel like I graduated from a college degree. It was really a great relief. However, it was indeed a looong process.
My daughter just turned 2yrs old last February and I never thought of the idea of potty training. I even don’t know how to teach her when to use it. I believe to the saying that “you’ll know the time when she’s ready for something”, maybe its in the parents instincts. So the day comes when I felt that she feels irritated when wearing diaper. She always removes it and takes a pee everywhere around the house. The problem is that whenever she tells me “wee wee”, the floor is already wet. Or sometimes with bombs all over the place.
So it has been months of trial and error for us to learn the proper use of toilet time.
When I was browsing over the internet about tricks about potty training, I found this link:
Potty training kids in just 3 days. It’s a guide that could help parents to avoid a long process of training children. The author’s story about her experience in practicing her child’s potty training was presented interestingly too. By using her guide, you may no longer experience embarrassments in public (when your baby does her thing) or waking up with a wet blanket and bed sheet (if you sleep beside your kid).
As I watched the video, she explains that there are preparations for yourself before you start to train your loveone. So it was really a practice. Training yourself to teach your baby is the answer!
How about you, what are your preparations for your child regarding on this matter?
It was after Christmas when we created our DIY table for our daughter. Materials are all recycled!
So we made a trial test if this table is strong enough. Daddy challenged his daughter to fight him over arm wrestling! lol
Sadly, dad can’t win from his strong daughter. Who can ever imagine that a 1 year old baby can win from an adult.
This is how it looks like when nothing to do.
It is really funny to see how they look. My daughter is like David, and my husband is like the giant Goliath. [Trivia about Goliath: Did you know that the place Golgotha was named after Goliath? this place is known for executions where they punish criminals.] Okay, we are getting too far from the subject. Going back, watch this video and see how cute they are when playing.
It is really an achievement for a mother to see that her child is enjoying the company of her father…and playing arm wrestle!
Did you ever win from an Arm Wrestling challenge?
This video is published on Mychannelnow Channel on Youtube. My apologies for a shakey camera shots.
See you on my next post! This is garethology, signing off.
[Hiro holding a love letter from her daddy while doing her supermodel shot! No one taught her that, amazing!]
Being a working mother/wife is hard. One must learn to handle pressure on demanding bosses [which is my daughter and myself. lol]. I never thought that a home-based business is harder than working outside because your number 1 enemy will be yourself [talk about laziness days…]. There were no holidays, closing time, or company outings, just plain husband and wife investing for the future. Hence, I will still hold on to “Pay now, play later” rather than enjoying every money spent while our bank accounts are gradually losing. Well, we still go out on a date but not in an extravagant ways. A simple tea house is our new place to unwind. Speaking of which, my husband went for a 3-day out-of town for work and my daughter and I were left at home. Before he leaves, he asked me to go to our favorite tea house “Tea Fairy Cafe” 7pm sharp later but he didn’t say why.
7pm strikes on the clock and we (baby and I) went out to the tea house. Approaching the cashier, the manager told me “Maui?” and I said that Maui is my husband. The man said that I have free treats…wow!
At first, I thought it was just a drink and a cookie but I was surprised because he served me these!
A Dark Choco Milktea
Red velvet cupcake
fkllgndkfj cookie (Sorry, it’s really hard to memorize that one. A choco with pecan nuts cookie, my very favorite!)
2 wrapped gifts (for Hiro and Me)
and a love letter (or sort-of-contract from my husband? lol)
Weeee!!! This is the first time that I encountered such a sweet surprise. 🙂
Speaking of Surprise, yeah, it was indeed a 3-day surprise for me. I felt like I was Charlize Theron in Sweet November movie [the part when Keanu Reeves gave 12 different gifts to her].
Day 1: (before Maui left): Gave me my favorite chocolate candies and drink
Day 2: Received a recycled envelop (old fedex envelop.lol) which has makeup tools, a top shirt, writing materials and a love letter. Plus, this Tea Fairy treat!
Day 3: A new mouse for my laptop (which I was wishing for the long time)
Eating seriously…lol. I was controlling my emotions during this moment because I don’t want to be a crybaby in front of other people (especially when my husband is not around). Seriously, I got so stiff when I received this but deep inside, I was jumping in happiness. Maybe this is the feeling when your loveone is not around.
Thank you TEAFAIRY CAFE Mandaluyong for serving such a lovely treat and for being an accomplice to my husband’s surprise! To my MR. October/November- and forever [Maui] who continuously give happiness to my boring life. And of course, thank you Lord for these abundant blessings!
Hiro and I really enjoyed this mommy-daughter night out! 🙂
I’m back again! Sorry for the inactive months that I haven’t write to this blog since my laptop is dying (she’s now begging me to let her go but I still can’t decide when.lol).
So anyhow, I’ve been part of this online group called “MOMS INC” where mothers share their lives and mingle around with other moms and moms to be. You can post anything you want, give advice, and ask questions (which covers the subject of motherhood). I get so amused by this group because there are some mothers provide games with prizes! One mother hosted a game and her prize is IPAD gadget! Cool.
I become so active to this group for some times and I even met few mothers outside the forum. I’ve never been into a page like this so I spend most of my time there just to read amazing stories of wonder moms and their shared recipes.
Aside from online chatroom, they also have monthly gathering/EB (eyeball) outside the internet. Meet new and old members, chat, and laugh with them over a feast of delicious foods. Speaking of which, last Saturday, we went to Seafood Island, Mall of Asia for the get together. It was my first time to attend this gathering and I felt a little nervous thinking if I can still catch up with them since I was an hour late. Aside from that, I don’t know anyone there except admin Shine. Arrived late, there was a minute of silence. I feel so shy that time for breaking their mood… I approached admin and his husband and they welcomed us with beautiful smiles and kisses! My husband gets our camera and take some pictures of us and guess what happened next? All mothers are yelling and approaching at us to take pictures too! And there goes the happy time starts. lol
If the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, then I believe that “The way to a mother’s heart is through cameras and taking pictures!”
We were recording a voice over for a short film while baby is sleeping. Husband mimic the voice of Count of Sesame Street (He says “One Make up, ah ah ah! two make ups, ah ah ah!”) then suddenly Baby smiles like she was saying “Dada, I know whose you’re trying to imitate”. Maybe she thought that we played Sesame Street because my husband sounded like him. Such a cute girl, sleeping happily.
It just popped out of my head the film of Julia Stiles’ “10 Things I Hate About You”. So I wonder, what if I make my own lists? 10 Things I Hate About Babies…It sounds cruel or rude but I bet you would understand why I’ve got to post this. So here it goes!
10th Thing I hate about is: when they cries so loud that you can’t figure out what they want. Since they can’t talk yet, the only communication that they know is to cry. But hey, if you’re the type of person who loves to play guessing game then you’ll enjoy this crying game! (but don’t let them cry too much or don’t let them cry at all.)
9th. When she/he says “mama” for the first time. Heart melting,eh? But suddenly she reaches for her sippy cup of water. She actually means “mamam”, drink, not calling you. mama again for nap time, mama for boredom, mama, mama, mama everywhere. On the brighter side, still, its her first time to say a word!
8th. When she’s too energetic to party at night while you feel tired and sleepy for playing with her the entire day. Baby don’t want to sleep yet. So you try to feed her, sing lullaby, rock gently, count sheeps and so on until you make yourself fall asleep [while baby is still awake]. Worse case is when she pokes your eyes while you sleep. Take note: EYES! not just one…lol
7th. Babies are really messy on foods, toys, or anything that they hold. When you clean, their intention is to help you but the end product is: tada! scattered toys and worse, undees (she can reach our box of undees so she throws everything away). On Hiro’s case, she likes dvd cases. She goes to the cd colletions then she does her thing, throw everything away, eat the dirt, rip papers then leave the mess. When I try to clean it, she’ll go back and do it again. So one time I tried to leave it unclean. She never comes back again, I won! The next day, I cleaned it. Then here she comes again…haaaaaa…thought I won. lol. What a great destroyer! She’s great because she tricked mommy and a destroyer because she destroyed mommy’s plan. oh snap…
6th. And so she sleeps like an angel…but kicks like Bruce Lee! sometimes she kicks my head, breasts, tummy, daddy’s adam’s apple…sometimes…but most of the time, she puts her entire feet on my face! I really wonder what she’s dreaming. Maybe she dreams about she’s on a tournament and she thought I was the opponent. Or she just dreamt of her bottle of milk (which I thought every baby’s default dream looks like that) and kicking, too much for happiness.
5th. I’d like to call them BABY TOPS! as in top, turumpo in Filipino. They roam around circling around the room like a top. Out of their curiosity, they explore interesting objects such as remote control, a plastic bag, a tiny ant then they go to another place to find some more. They are like hurricane and tornado; they leave the place damaged. If babies are the hurricane, then I gotta say that insects are the victims. Where can they go for evacuation center?
4th. There are so many things that I can list down but a week won’t be enough for that…anyhow, can you imagine when baby had an accident?
I hate it so much. Especially when they fell or something fell on them. Cuts. Electric fan cuts her skin (finger).Twice. It tears you apart when you see her hand bleeding and when she cries in pain. Haaa. It drives us crazy. What I hate much than this? myself. You can’t blame the fan or her for putting her own finger on those propellers. No one to blame but me. On the contrary, it’ll give you the boost to protect her more. Gives you bravery. (Ha! my baby puts her finger inside the electric fan. I’m tough, so I gotta try it too! If my baby can, so as I!—Husband. My love got an accident with that fan too! So I gotta say who the real father is. lol)
3rd. Babies are great imitators! Mimic. When I try to call my baby to crawl back at the bed (while I wave her to go back), she waves back too. Then continuing her thing. Word of advice for parents: Never leave the lights on (or get another room!). Or else…she/he’ll imitate what she saw (with the moaning sounds too)!
2nd. Some kids are “kidnappables”
On my baby’s case, there’s no strangers with her. I call her Miss Congeniality for befriending everyone she sees (even scary looking strangers). She’s okay if I leave her with a baby sitter or a relative.
And last thing that I hate about babies…
1st. Babies grow too fast…Sadly, the cutie, tiny feet will wear stilettos soon. I just can’t imagine how fast she grows. Yesterday she was just as light as a computer speaker, but now, she’s almost walking by herself. The next thing you know is, she’ll marry the rockstar guy 3rd block away from your home. ahhhh!!!
I always tell it to my husband, and I always get the same reaction. He laughs.
So I guess let’s not be in a hurry, motherhood/parenthood isn’t a race.
Those are the things that you can look for once you have a baby. I hated it, but I love it!
Till next 10 things! [up next… post for my husband!]
Guess we need some baby translator for this. Does Google translate have one?
[Hiro screams…wants to say, “I wanna write on the keyboard too!” so mommy lets her. Here’s what she wrote] mbnhhhhhhhgy miu9ui888ieeeeeeeek b
[Then mommy put her down again because she’s almost ruining the keys. she keeps on tapping, not typing. Tapping so hard. Hiro cries out loud. Mommy put her to bed. After several minutes of suiting a cranky baby, Hiro finally takes her siesta…end!]
Whew, being a mother is such a pain in the ass. lol But fun, too! Baby is just trying to help mommy to write something on her blog. Wait for the next post, lists about ahem, babies again!
Working as an event organizer with family members are pretty uncommon especially when baby is included. There are a lot of restrictions for baby’s welfare. You can’t have overtime (because baby needs to sleep earlier), nor you can’t leave her alone on the floor while dancers are rehearsing (they might stepped on baby’s hands or feet or interrupt the entire routines). However, we won’t worry on those areas though. It’s really fun to bring my daughter at work!
Here are the common scenarios that we encounter (that maybe you encounter too!):
>> While Husband is teaching dance steps, I work on my laptop (on the floor) while baby’s on her stroller watching the dance steps.
>> Most of the time, Hiro imitates the dance steps that she sees and whenever she hears the music, she dances (raises her hands) automatically! She’s really cute while doing that!
>> Baby practices her walking skill using a mono-block chair (pushing the chair looks like she’s pushing a grocery cart).
>> When I have to do some out of the room errands, husband takes care of baby (and sometimes, his students take care of her too, during water breaks! Guess we found instant baby sitters, lol.).
>> When Hiro (but most of the time, I) feel bored, we stroll around the school. We go to the grassy school field where husband trains the boys some stunts (flips, breakdances whatever they call it).
>> Lastly(though there are still many scenes, just have to cut it down), meeting with deans and faculty members (or sometimes company owners) with baby! [funniest experience we had so far: while in the middle of the discussion, business consultant explains some important matters. The room was so quiet and the atmosphere is just enough for a serious business plans then suddenly Hiro farted so loud that we can’t help but laugh!]
One night, husband has finished the routine earlier (of course, I stopped my work too) so he spent time with us while watching the other choreographer teach.
Hope you enjoy reading and may you get inspired with it!
After months of rehearsals and preparation for LCCDT’s concert, it’s time to relax and have a fun day with family (although we’re always together at work…yes, we bring baby Hiro at work!). These photos were taken at the campus field (where cheerleaders and dancers practice their stunts).
This is the first time that our baby had a first walk on the grass (bare foot). It’s really funny to see her reaction when her foot touches the grasses. It tickles her but she didn’t know how will react on it which gives her the peculiar look
