[Hiro holding a love letter from her daddy while doing her supermodel shot! No one taught her that, amazing!]
Being a working mother/wife is hard. One must learn to handle pressure on demanding bosses [which is my daughter and myself. lol]. I never thought that a home-based business is harder than working outside because your number 1 enemy will be yourself [talk about laziness days…]. There were no holidays, closing time, or company outings, just plain husband and wife investing for the future. Hence, I will still hold on to “Pay now, play later” rather than enjoying every money spent while our bank accounts are gradually losing. Well, we still go out on a date but not in an extravagant ways. A simple tea house is our new place to unwind. Speaking of which, my husband went for a 3-day out-of town for work and my daughter and I were left at home. Before he leaves, he asked me to go to our favorite tea house “Tea Fairy Cafe” 7pm sharp later but he didn’t say why.
7pm strikes on the clock and we (baby and I) went out to the tea house. Approaching the cashier, the manager told me “Maui?” and I said that Maui is my husband. The man said that I have free treats…wow!
At first, I thought it was just a drink and a cookie but I was surprised because he served me these!
A Dark Choco Milktea
Red velvet cupcake
fkllgndkfj cookie (Sorry, it’s really hard to memorize that one. A choco with pecan nuts cookie, my very favorite!)
2 wrapped gifts (for Hiro and Me)
and a love letter (or sort-of-contract from my husband? lol)
Weeee!!! This is the first time that I encountered such a sweet surprise. 🙂
Speaking of Surprise, yeah, it was indeed a 3-day surprise for me. I felt like I was Charlize Theron in Sweet November movie [the part when Keanu Reeves gave 12 different gifts to her].
Day 1: (before Maui left): Gave me my favorite chocolate candies and drink
Day 2: Received a recycled envelop (old fedex envelop.lol) which has makeup tools, a top shirt, writing materials and a love letter. Plus, this Tea Fairy treat!
Day 3: A new mouse for my laptop (which I was wishing for the long time)
Eating seriously…lol. I was controlling my emotions during this moment because I don’t want to be a crybaby in front of other people (especially when my husband is not around). Seriously, I got so stiff when I received this but deep inside, I was jumping in happiness. Maybe this is the feeling when your loveone is not around.
Thank you TEAFAIRY CAFE Mandaluyong for serving such a lovely treat and for being an accomplice to my husband’s surprise! To my MR. October/November- and forever [Maui] who continuously give happiness to my boring life. And of course, thank you Lord for these abundant blessings!
Hiro and I really enjoyed this mommy-daughter night out! 🙂
“Less is more”. This will be applicable for today’s post. If you’re a type of person who doesn’t want to apply too much makeup, here’s the best for you. You may also call this as an emergency makeup (in case you only have few products in your bag) too. For the busy mothers who have no time to wear makeups, I dedicate this to you. Like in my case, I’m a mom and a business woman, so I still need to look fresh and presentable.
A friend of mine [hello Jackie! 🙂 ] will attend a wedding and she only have the basic makeup. She also said that she doesn’t know how to apply some of it. But here’s the catch, she lives in Singapore so I couldn’t go to her place to do her makeup instead, I made this step by step tutorial (hair and makeup). I also refer to her products so that she can follow easily.
Imagine if there’s no brush and no foundation? what would you do? be resourceful. 🙂
So let’s get started!
*Make sure to clean your face first to avoid breakouts.
Step 1: Apply your favorite powder (optional: apply concealer and foundation before the powder) evenly. Don’t forget to apply on ears and neck or else you’ll look like a ghost! lol
Tip: add more powder under your eyes, less on forehead. Since we have limited materials, you may consider your baby’s powder if you don’t have foundation. 😛
Step 2: Eye pencil on brows [pardon for my uncleaned brows]. You may apply the pencil directly but if you want to have softer brows, you can use cotton buds as your brush. (When I was a kid, I always use cotton buds for painting because I have no paint brushes available. Same strategy but this time, my canvass is my face. hehe) Just follow the line of your brows. I used brown pencil here. You can use any color that you like as long as it will not exaggerate your brows. You want to have a natural look, avoid too much application. Since Jackie has a beautiful, thicker, black brows (which complements her face) but she has no black eyeshadow or pencil, she may skip this part.
Step 3: Eyeshadow. Apply it on your lids. The first eyeshadow should be 2x lighter than your skin tone. On Jackie’s part, she has a lighter skin tone so this color fits on her. Again, I used the cotton bud as a substitute for brush. You can use your fingers if you want.
Step 4: Contour & Blend. Contouring (sounds-like conjuring, lol) is a kind of technique that gives illusion or shadow of a thinner nose, higher cheekbone, fuller crease and so on… (this is based on my opinion only) apply a darker e/s shade on your crease (and on lower lash line). This may be messy at first but bear with it, you can blend it and clean afterwards. Blend the darker shade inwards until it looks natural. The application on your lash line should be thin, do not overdo it.
Here’s how it should look like:
*Option 2 : Using Brown pencil and cotton bud, apply it on crease and lower lash line. Blend well.
Step 5: Highlight the center of your eyes (using white eyeshadow) for a dramatic effect. Blend this carefully together with the eyeshadows. Apply it on the corner of your eyes and on your brow bone too. (oops, I wasn’t able to capture it… sorry)
Here’s the difference. You can see that if you use eye pencil, you’ll have a darker dramatic look while on the right side is more natural look so I go for the eyeshadows. 🙂
Step 6: Use your middle and ring (am I correct?) fingers when you use the blush. Smile so that you can see the apples of your cheeks. Apply it in a circle motion then spread it outward. You may also want to use the same blush for your chin and forehead as the bronzer but you have to be careful on that. Small amount is good.
Step 7: Lips! Apply it directly on your lips. You can add lip shiner for a glossy look but I prefer a matte color for a pinky natural lips.
Here’s the preview: (Oh, and by the way, I wear different makeups on my eyes)
For the hair, you may refer to this photo:
Here is the output. It looks like a mini moehawk with a side pop.
Tada! Simple yet neat.
Hope you learn from this tutorial and if you have requests or questions related to this, it will be my pleasure to answer or do it… 🙂

Thanks for dropping by! Paalam! [It means goodbye in Filipino]
This is the first time that I encounter a grooming tool which sells to over a million men out there. They will deliver it to your house on a monthly basis. The packaging is good and the quality as well (based on a product review article) and their video ad is f***ing unique! This is definitely empowering Men to shave and to save money. If makeups are for women, Shavers are for Men!
Bottomline is, I’m planning to purchase this for my husband. I just hope they can deliver here. 🙂
Here’s Hayley Williams Inspired Makeup Tutorial that I would like to share with you. Enjoy!
“30 Days Without Accident”
This episode is quite interesting. Establishing the prison and their new community. I think the virus is evolving. You could see that on the first few scenes, walkers are bleeding (why bleed when they’re rotting?) in the eyes and some parts of the face as if the eyes are popping. Then at the end of it, someone died and his eyes are also bleeding…hmm, I wonder how did they get it. I suspect that the cause of Patrick’s death is related to the virus spreading. Maybe this strong virus is now affecting weaker bodies which can also cause bleeding, or could it be the pig’s disease is transmissible?
Aside from that, the woman who Rick met in the woods is very symbolic. While he was outside, he saw a strange woman [which he thought was a walker] who approached him and ask for help. While they were walking, I thought that this woman was just Rick’s hallucination because they have somehow similar [in interests, past, and so on…]. Until they reached the woman’s camp, she suddenly attacked Rick to feed her husband [take note: it’s just a walker’s head inside a bag]. This part was very dramatic…the woman portrays a human who was stuck in world of no escape. So she killed herself in front of Rick. You could see that Rick is very tired of losing people.
Moreover, they are now dealing with internal issues since the group is getting bigger [and gradually getting smaller]. Less suspense, more drama. That’s what I’ve noticed. They focus more on relationships not the zombies anymore. I guess there will be a traitor inside the group. Despite of that, it’s a great episode!
I just wanted to share this funny link that I saw on my news feed. This is really hilarious. People ask to edit their pictures according to their want but turned out really…something else. Different. lol
Few months ago…This photo was taken after I braided his hair. I really miss him though we are always together. I miss him in the sense that I want to take longer time to be with him, to sketch together, play frisbee, jog with him, have a dinner date or coffee, watch movies together, everything that we used to do when we’re not busy. This month is really a busy one for us. The hype of our career, the make it or break it part. Despite of this, I’m still happy and blessed to the fact that we are business partners. We work together in the same field. So we may not talk that much lately, I can still feel this romantic ambiance of the blue green sea in our work. I’m so excited to grow old with you, Love.
“I am so proud of you.”
The most encouraging word that I heard from my adviser. This was the first time that I heard it from Sir when I went back to school to help his students in organizing a film screening. I was working in an artists’ collective during that time and his student asked me to help them in Cinemendiola.
In his weaknesses, he is strong. I believe on that bible verse (but that’s not the exact words though). He may be physically weak, but his passion and spirit is so strong that we can feel it even we’re away. Because of that, we are making this first stage play possible for him. If he fights, we fight. Photoshoots are done and ads are live now. We are still in need of funds but we’re finding ways to reach people who are willing to give out for Sir Lito. Will post more of the photos soon. 🙂
A Makeup Conversation
“Wife: can you explain to me what you are applying?
Husband: This if for the contour… in the circumference and the perimeter…”
Whaaaat did he just say!??? LOL
This night was so tiring and stressful… after an entire day of errands, we went to the mall to buy few items. Due to the bad weather [it was raining hard], we stayed for hours and played in Timezone. When we went out to get a cab, we noticed that almost all taxi drivers are so picky with his passengers. They want near places or they will charge you extra bucks aside from your bill. It took us an hour waiting so we decided to move from place to place…It was 12mn [normally, there are many cabs during this time] but there’s still no cab driver who is willing to drive us home. We were so pissed off so we waited for more hours and stayed in Mcdonald’s.
For a diversion, I forced my husband to apply my falsies which I just bought…and then the makeup challenge started. lol
I let him use my new makeups on me while killing the time. Take note: this is in a public place…a fast food chain wherein people dine and go. Everyone (most of them are women) was looking at us and we didn’t care.
In fairness, my husband, Maui did a great job! I liked what he did. True artist/painter he is.
And so, we went home wearing this look. lol
[All throughout that day, we were carrying our daughter. Imagine the tiredness it brought.]
And this is what we do in Marriage time! lol
Thanks for reading and I hope you like this post. ‘Till the next one! 🙂
