Let’s Eat Pasta!

“You are what you eat”

kamasoupwa1

During this time, I was so conscious about what we eat lately. I really want to serve healthy and yummy foods for the family with less expensive ingredients. So this discovery was made. I discovered that Tofu can be a substitute for the usual meat that we eat. The taste (depending on how you cook it, I prefer to deep fry it first) is just as same as chicken or pork. Moreover, my husband and I love kangkong (water spinach) so I tried to invent a pasta sauce that contains water spinach, and tofu…

And here it is! Tada! I call this KamaSoupWa [Kama=kamatis or tomato, Soup, Wa=tokwa or tofu]

Meeting for a Cause

Image[from left to right: Ferry, Channa, Sam, Nomar, Me and my baby. Photo credits from my husband, Maui]

And so our dream is now going to be a reality. If you have read my previous post, I mentioned there that we will be organizing a fund raising event for the medication support of our mentor Sir Lito. We know that chemotherapy is so expensive that’s why we decided to help him achieve all the medication expenses through a theater play.

Here’s the first meeting of our team. 4 members weren’t there because they accompanied Sir Lito’s medical check-up.

Trivia: Did you know that this group started in college? A group of Masscomm officers: Sam, Channa, Kc, Jinky, Pam, and Diah. And us (from lower batch), Ferry, and I. In 2007, we started to work together for a TV segment which aired on Studio 23. The TV show called Rush TV. It is a show by students (supervised by professionals) and for the students. Take note: we are all students during this time. Fitting our tight schedule for the shoots and meetings. Aside from this, we also have theater class under Sir Lito which we are required to participate in his Stage Plays as a hands-on training/project.

Everyone has a busy schedule. Sam is now the marketing manager of an events agency and a part time lifestyle blogger (check her blogs: Samlanuza.com). Kc and Jinky is working in a mainstream TV networks. Channa resigned on her job in a mainstream Tv network too (and planning to have her own business). Diah is taking masterals while working in a corporate world. Ferry is now a mother/wife and business owner of a pastry services (check out Pastry-rific at: https://www.facebook.com/PastryRific ), and I am a mother/wife and filmmaker for my Youtube accounts (you can see my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/mychannelnow).

Reuniting the same production team…it’s really a blessing because we believe that we can make this dream come true knowing that each of the members are passion-driven which Sir Lito taught us. This is also the first time that I’ll be playing a role with them (because I usually work behind the scenes). So excited to throw lines! Stay tuned for more posts…

Million March / Visiting a Mentor

Million March:Image

So I’m back again on the track.

It was really a shock when I found out that our College Adviser/Mentor is sick. During that time, we were about to leave the house to attend the million march at Luneta when I received an sms that his condition is a serious one. It didn’t sink in to me until a few minutes of silence as I was surfing the internet. From that moment, I couldn’t lift a finger and just froze for a while. I locked into our room and thinking about it all over again which cause me a great migraine. So the appointment was delayed and we (husband and I) started to argue. Why am I so silent that time? He can’t help but blame himself because he thought that he did something stupid that made me mad or upset…

After long hours of silence…(about 4 hours) I finally decided to attend the march, rain or shine. This Million March is a one day event wherein all Filipinos are invited to attend to scrap the Pork Barrel. It is very happy to see that many citizens participated. We wear white to show peace and unity.

For the record, this is the first protest rally that my daughter attended. She participated too; dancing in front of the stage, feeling the rhythm of the music. We didn’t able to finish the event because we’re afraid of the heavy rain to come out.

Visiting Mr. Lito Casaje:

The following day, we visited our adviser, Sir Lito in his condominium. I was with my college friends and my husband. Seeing him again…I’m surprised with his looks. He doesn’t look ill. He looks healthy and happy. I bet his fighting spirit still lives in him. His love and passion for artistry didn’t fade. That’s what I admire in him. His living room is full of books and papers from his office and huge paintings from his fellow artists. I felt like I went back to my college days. Nostalgic. He lives alone and a maid is the only one taking care of his household chores. I feel sad for him in this aspect but thank God because He blesses our professor with caring daughters, that’s us, his students.

Before we leave, we gave him a little remembrance: A medium-sized frame provided by Sam with a flip cartoon animation made by me. We wrote our uplifting messages there to encourage him to fight his cancer and live the life of arts. In return, he gave us his first published book. It is his collection of short scripts. If you want to learn basic scriptwriting, you can purchase the book from him.

To our excitement for his recovery, Sam and Channa proposed to organize a fund raising and tribute for him. An event that is close to his heart, theater play. Our dreams are about to happen in months…for the reader, please pray for our Sir Lito Casaje for his fast recovery. He may still live longer and produce more theater plays in the future.

Mom’s Inc. Get Together at MOA

Image

I’m back again! Sorry for the inactive months that I haven’t write to this blog since my laptop is dying (she’s now begging me to let her go but I still can’t decide when.lol).

So anyhow, I’ve been part of this online group called “MOMS INC” where mothers share their lives and mingle around with other moms and moms to be. You can post anything you want, give advice, and ask questions (which covers the subject of motherhood). I get so amused by this group because there are some mothers provide games with prizes!  One mother hosted a game and her prize is IPAD gadget! Cool.

I become so active to this group for some times and I even met few mothers outside the forum. I’ve never been into a page like this so I spend most of my time there just to read amazing stories of wonder moms and their shared recipes.

Aside from online chatroom, they also have monthly gathering/EB (eyeball) outside the internet. Meet new and old members, chat, and laugh with them over a feast of delicious foods. Speaking of which, last Saturday, we went to Seafood Island, Mall of Asia for the get together. It was my first time to attend this gathering and I felt a little nervous thinking if I can still catch up with them since I was an hour late. Aside from that, I don’t know anyone there except admin Shine. Arrived late, there was a minute of silence. I feel so shy that time for breaking their mood… I approached admin and his husband and they welcomed us with beautiful smiles and kisses! My husband gets our camera and take some pictures of us and guess what happened next? All mothers are yelling and approaching at us to take pictures too! And there goes the happy time starts. lol

If the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, then I believe that “The way to a mother’s heart is through cameras and taking pictures!

For all the mothers in the Philippines (or even outside the country), feel free to join to this group and feel the love of the members of Moms Inc. Check out their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/364859680280427/
